Do you know who has gotten lazy, XMM? ALL OF US. I would like to start a commentary meme. I know I personally lack the drive to write for hours and hours and hours on these things like I used to, and reserve the right to be concise and/or not do all of them (basically taking logs linked in the comments as suggestions rather than YOU MUST COMMENTARY THIS FOR PAGES AND PAGES OR ELSE FEEL LIKE SHITE FOREVER.)

A commentary works like this: You take a log that someone has suggested to you, or just one that you want to write about, and elaborate OOCly around your poses about what your character is thinking, what you were thinking, something that intrigued you about the other character, why you decided to make your character wear a blue shirt or no pants or pretty much anything you want. You can say as much or as little as you like. In the past, I've found it's a good way to give people insight into why my character does the things he does so that everyone isn't standing around like ??? all the time.

I believe most of the ones I've written have been stored on my personal LJ, and my connection is currently so borked that I can barely do enough to post this at all, so I'm going to link to an example of one Xavier's player wrote up around a year ago here.

Courtesy of the ever diligent New York media, you’ve doubtless become aware of my recent misadventures in Central Park. There is more to the story than they know.

I encountered a man and his son near a duck pond on the south end of the park, and immediately, my monitor of the surrounding area was rent from my control. I could see everything; I could feel everything. I could sense the fear of those around me, or something like it, and the steel infrastructure of buildings miles away. Forgive me for saying so, but I do not think I would be exaggerating to describe it as divine. Also, incredibly painful. Had I not managed to shut myself down immediately, I do not know what would have happened, but I suspect nothing good.

The man, for his part, became suddenly ill, falling to his knees and vomiting at my feet.

Not a believer in coincidence, I attempted a more limited display. The effects were the same. I was barely able to contain my own ability. He collapsed.

His name, according to the police, is Ryan Hewitt, and I believe he is an unwitting mutant with some sort of amplifying effect upon mutants around him. Between us, studying him might yield some interesting information on the subject of mutant enhancement. The trouble is that he seems to be somewhat anti-mutant. I do not know to what degree, but he did not seem pleased when I informed him of what he was. What his son probably is. He is probably crying in a closet somewhere.

I can provide more specific information in person, if you require it. I do not think we should discuss this over the phone, for obvious reasons.

Late this evening, an Inner Circle meeting was called to order in the bowels of the Club so that Erik could speak. This is what he had to say.

“Rather than waste your time with a detailed explanation or a list of excuses, I will be quick and to the point. I have organized this meeting to inform you that I am retiring from the Circle.

Many of you were here before I was. Some of you, I recruited personally. Most of you should have received more personal attention than you did, in the end. For that, I am sorry.

But I am not sorry for leaving.

You were recruited to this organization to improve it, and to be improved by it. I came for power in a time of weakness. My interests and intentions may sometime coincide with yours, but they are not parallel. You achieve your goals through deception. I prefer destruction. You manipulate people. I murder them.

I may have had some role in moderating the aftermath of Sebastian’s demise, and in recruiting, but I have been hands off overall. Those I have recruited owe their personal successes and advancements to Percival, Adel, and Emma. It is to them that you should be grateful. They should have your loyalty. I brought you here and lost interest. I do not have political contacts, nor do I know anyone in show business. I do not know who you should speak with, or how, or why. I was a teacher. I am now a terrorist. My talents lie elsewhere.

Should you encounter some great need for my presence nonetheless, I may be contacted through Emma, or Bahir. Despite my recent amnesty, I would not recommend that you approach me on the street, either. Not unless you are interested in having your personal life infested with prying government officials.

OOC: I do not know if this will inspire interest, but I am thinking of writing a press conference type post. If there is a question you would like answered ICly by the Master of Magnetism (now that he's been granted a pardon despite being a human-hating murderer and all) comment with it and I'll write it in! Multiple questions are welcome. Whether or not I answer all of them will likely depend on the response.

OOC: Part of Erik's agreement with the government was that he be allowed to have one day unsupervised to get his affairs in order prior to going into outer space. This is that day. There are some continuity blips because I didn't play them in order, but nothing significant!
